This week's been interesting. Monday night saw me sign up last minute at Attitude Dance Studio, home to salsa king Tzeyi and other smooth operators... I was there for their I1 module under Lesly and gee, was I right when I said LADC doesn't concentrate on basics cos I can't even do a fscking single turn right! Funny thing though, the people in the class are ALL white collar workers... freaky. I'm like underage jailbait compared to most of them...
Wednesday night = Union night from now on, cuz whoa... the whole gang was there! Met the Jitters salsa pals (Porshee, Peter, Sherry and Yingyi), Marco's gang and new faces for me... the MINDEF forum gang! Ben and Jared (aka pamal and guest) were pretty cool... and wah the dancing for me that night was how good la. Actually started to SWEAT, which means that my frequency of dance is going up... even if my standard is like shit, as proven on Thursday at Hard Rock with Jared's friend. Yeah, Chew Mei's "bounce a lot" comment pretty much killed me that day. And excuse me for not knowing you invite a girl for a dance with "both hands" and can't offer just one... Geez. HRC Salsa night seems to be primarily an ADS/Bodytalks affair so I think I should pass next time...
Friday Fiesta was super sweaty and outstanding! Despite getting manhandled by the silly Holland girl who doesn't know how to salsa at all. Haha. Mei Pin was nice enough to spend so much time dancing with me (though she claims she's killing time...) And at the end I led Eddie... that was how funny lah! He follows my moves better than any girl so far. After Fiesta, Yingyi convinced me to go check out Keith's band:
Reverie at BarCelona, Robertson Walk - they're quite amusing, mm. The silly girl was so totally taken with the vocalist Jon! Damn nearly ordered a Sex on the Beach but luckily I decided to let Ying be the guinea pig, or else I'd have ended up ordering a girl's drink! >_< Lesson learnt, always order a beer. (IMO nothing beats an Erdinger, not even freshly brewed Paulaner Brauhaus lager)
Saturday was lesson packed: Bachata with Keith and Ying at Jitters, then I ran over to LADC with Ying in tow for Int/Adv. As per my pattern, I always cock up every alternate lesson, so the finisher for today's lesson was lost on me. Meanwhile, Lionel tells Ying she's got mad skillz... I'm like how sad la, he never says anything to me. =( Oh well. After that there was a dinner for paternal grandma's birthday but gee... these things always seem to be the same. As Huiying says, "(the relatives) have been talking about (my) 'naturally permed' hair for 2 years now, they've really run out of things to talk about!"
Thursday was empty, save the Rueda lesson... no comments there. Friday, though... what a work. After the usual Fiesta at Jitters, Marco and I in our usual fickle manner trooped down to Gotham Penthouse for Jennifer's birthday celebration. As Douglas called it - the ultimate clubbing experience, hm. I probably wasn't even a quarter as cool as the other guys during the makeshift freestyling shines, and at no point of time did I try to go up on stage... but it was fun lah, even if I wasn't all that familiar with the people there. Heard something really ugly though, ugly if only because it was in a particularly unsuitable situation.
Today was fscking bad after Int/Adv lessons... Instead of hanging out with Trudy and Marco like normal, I had to weather the storm alone cos they were busy (Marco got into the Hip Hop crew so kena training, Trudy was Down Under). Paid a visit to the Female 50GP finals preview, but it was just lousy crap and nothing much to see, so I went back to play PS2. And the worst thing was that Loco was mind-numbingly empty... tch.
Watched
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance yesterday. Thank God that Guoliang and I caught it, because it seems that today they've stopped showing it! How awful of Singapore cinemas to deny our patrons of such good cinema (but I bet there aren't that many people who appreciate it la...)
Talked to GL a bit about life... with regards to how I should deal with the feeling that I'm not getting anywhere, or why I don't feel like taking over The Man. Or cooking in college dorms. Yeah, life, and finding that drive to achieve something - something that'll pick up when we grow older.
Out of the blue got Ulysses PL 4 outing, so go lor... nothing else to do. I was pleasantly surprised that I can still click so well with Nich Tan, Edwin and Aaron. A bit scared of now-Platoon Sergeant Alvis... he's technically still the same, but to acknowledge that someone with the same power and demeanour as that bastard Ravindath to be on the same level as "us" is something I can't handle...
Still fun lah. Yah. Visited the outside of Zouk and its impossibly packed and snaking crowds, and we thought better about getting in, so we stuck ourselves at Paulaner Brauhaus with a couple of beers and lots of talking cock. Good times.
Monday was a rather odd crashing of class at SMU with Vivien. Nothing nice to see, brain getting boggled like siao. Kept the poor girl waiting here and there at odd moments (waiting for me to get to SMU, waiting for me to get out of the toilet etc), how unbecoming. >_<
Today gets a thumbs up: an all-out salsa session at Cheryl's place. Being able to recognise more new faces (Joyce, Keith) is always a plus for me... more people to dance with haha. I get a feeling though, I've come to a standstill in my progress... I'm unable to make my leads work right on anyone who isn't trained by LADC (and even the LA dancers have problems with me! *sob*). Really problematic... sigh...
Dinner at Fish and Co was entertaining too but 90% of the jokes have left my head! Damn.
